Pre-race goofiness. I drank a LOT of coffee, we got up at 2am to get there!!
I made it! I came in at around 1:30, which was where I figured, based on pool times. The water was nice, not too cold, and there was very little current. The folks running the event did an awesome job, especially for a first-time race. Molly and Gabe came with me for the trip, and Molly gave me hugs at the finish.
Thanks to everyone for donations and support. I wrote your names on my arms and could see them while I was swimming!
It was a beautiful sunrise. We started after the sun was up thankfully. I learned that spotting into the sun was a bad idea but it wasn't hard to adjust my breathing and spotting to the west.
You guys ROCK!
