Greeny Days

Today's blog is brought to you by the color green.

It's been a green sort of week here at the Yates house. The grass is still green, more so than last year due to the clover we seeded. In another month the only thing in the lawn that will be green will be the dandelions and the clover, so we are plucking and seeding daily. We haven't got a sprinkler system, and don't want one, but the clover promises to stay green all year, unlike the grass.

I'm working on a beautiful quilt, the main colors are sage(GREEN) and chocolate. It's a joy to work with good quality fabric. It just feels good to touch.

Green is the color of money, even if it is numbers on an internet store order form. We ordered a tent and cots last night. It is a beautiful canvas tent that should last forever, and the cots are bunk-bed style so we can sleep 6 in the tent with lots of floor space left over. Molly insists on her own pup-tent so she'll be in her own space a few feet away. I had to order from the internet because I went into the Cabela's near Olympia and got freaked out. That place is simply bizarre. It's part theme park, part taxidermy display and almost Ikea-like in it's size and ability to overwhelm.

Green is the color of ivy, of which 5 feet of thickness got cut back from the fence this month, uncovering tires and a washing machine buried on the neighbor's side. Sadly, the ivy was the only thing supporting a portion of the fence, so we will take the GREEN truck to the lumber yard later today.

The vegetable garden is green, tomatoes are growing slowly, pumpkins are, well, existing, but those radishes are amazing. Too bad I don't like to eat them.

And green is our baseball team's color. We have Thursday and Saturday games this week. Cross your fingers for good weather!

Owen helped me paint the alphabet in his room. I traced the letters from a stencil and we painted "in the lines". ((Baby wipes are great for cleaning up fresh paint))
