Trip to Texas 1.0

No pictures, I apologize, the home computer (with the photo software) got hooked up the day I left.
Day 1: Leaving Port Angeles. No time to be weepy, frantic packing and cleaning all around. Go to a clean corner and play DS-kids! Finally got on the road around 2:30 (had planned on 10) to stop before we got out of town for an oil change. That's OK- Shawn had to do stuff to the truck to get it ready to tow..he'll catch up..yeah he did! I got pulled over not 20 miles down the road by a Trooper to let me know that the running lights on the trailer weren't working. Never mind that it was daylight...drove to the Longhouse Gas Station to wait for Shawn to assess. 1 hour there, kids drinking hot chocolate, Shawn on the wet ground unwrapping electrical tape, no fix. Guess we'll have to travel in daylight...HA. Crossed Snoqualmie Pass sometime after dark, missed my one last ferry ride across the sound b/c Shawn had to be right behind me to hide the trailer's lights (no 26 foot UHauls towing pickup trucks ferry money in the budget). Kids cranky "are we there yet?" "can I have that DS game yet?" We got them 6 DS games, you think they could share?? Arrived Pendleton, OR at our first reserved hotel between 12 and 1am.
Day 2: Kids swam in the hotel's pool for an hour, then on the road again. More fighting over DS games, the cat peed on Molly, stopped at WalMart for new, non-fabric cat crate. Thru Boise, into Utah. Got pulled over 11pm for trailer lights. Dude! There is NO fix! The brake lights and turn lights work, the hazards work..we will have to rewire the entire trailer later but not when it's FULL! Good thing we are 10 miles from next hotel. Arrived Brigham City 12am.
Day 3. Swimming, off by 10. Construction in Salt Lake City, detoured by BYU campus. Beautiful mountains!!!!!!!! Got to Moab area by dusk- rock formations soooo gorgeous- plan to go back and camp next summer!!!!! On to Farmington, NM. FYI- Road from Moab south sucks! Wanted to detour to stand on Four Corners (Utah, NM, NV, CO). Took a vote- no one wanted to spend 2 extra hours in the car. Again, next summer. Arrive hotel, 10pm- rush back out to WalMart (out of Pull-Ups)
Day 4: Swimming, breakfast, drive at 10 am. Good morning pattern. State roads across the Divide. Lunch, jackets off! Woot! Sunglasses, too! Arrived to Amarillo, TX 8pm. Laundry to do, kids swam before sleep.
Day 5: Ignorant people broke into trailer in the night. Took dirty laundry, left break-in hammer. Zip-tie the lock, off we go. Arrived to our NEW HOME 4:30 pm. Lasagna in the oven, Christmas tree up, stockings stuffed....LOVE YOU MOM! Sister and BIL there to help unload overnight necessities...exhausted.
to be continued....
